Life transitions often coincide with major decisions. A personal reflection on empathy, authenticity, and showing up with care through change.
Stephen Colbert once said, “What punishments of God are not gifts?”
That line stayed with me this past year.
The last season of my life held a lot at once, some heavy, some beautiful, sometimes in the same breath. Doors closing, others opening, often simultaneously.
- I said goodbye to my dad.
- I sold a home filled with memories for my daughters and me.
- I bought a new one that represents forward motion and fresh beginnings.
- I closed a long chapter of divorce logistics with respect and humanity.
- And I stepped into a long-awaited marriage, grounded in patience, hope, and love.
What I know for sure is this:
Life transitions don’t make us less capable or less professional. They make us more real. And that realness becomes a strength.
I believe showing up with empathy, honesty, and emotional awareness matters; in life, and in the way I serve others during their own transitions.
Here’s to being genuine.
To honoring every season.
And to leading with humanity, always.
